Summer Chemo Caps

One of my favorite brands,
Peaches & Cream, made from
100% USA grown cotton.
Wondering what type of yarn to use when making summer chemo caps? I personally use 100% cotton. It's easy to find, fairly inexpensive, comes in a variety of colors and is perfect for cancer patients. The soft cotton is easy on the tender scalp and is much cooler than acrylic.

It's important to keep the head covered when outdoors because certain medicines may make the skin more sensitive to the sun. Having a hat that completely covers the scalp and that keeps the patient cool is key.

Keeping the chemo caps clean is also very important for patients and will help alleviate the possibility of sores. Cotton is easy to manage... hand wash, reshape and dry flat. Be aware of any allergies. Some patients find that certain detergents and softeners can affect them.

We have several free hat patterns listed that can be used with cotton. Hope you find this info helpful. Please email me at info@crochetforcancer.com with any questions. God Bless and happy crocheting!
