Crochet for Cancer: How to Get Involved

Here are a few simple ways you can help us give a handmade crochet hat to someone taking chemo:

If you crochet or knit:

  • Send your item(s) to one of  the locations listed below and we will be sure they are distributed to hospitals and cancer centers.

  • Contact your local hospital, doctors office, cancer center and donate your items there.
  • We accept gift cards to purchase yarn and supplies from the following locations: Hobby Lobby, Michael's, AC Moore Crafts, Wal-Mart, and JoAnn Fabric.
  • Donate yarn and supplies. We are always looking for extras.

If you do NOT crochet/knit:

  • Don’t know how to knit or crochet? Why not donate a ball of yarn and we will make one on your behalf. We are always in need of yarn to create hats. Remember us when you are at your local box chain store and pick up a couple skeins of yarn. We accept any color and weight yarn. Send them to one of our locations.
  • We accept gift cards to purchase yarn and supplies from the following locations: Hobby Lobby, Michael's, AC Moore Crafts, Wal-Mart, and JoAnn Fabric.
  • Make a financial donation to the American Cancer Society(we are not affiliated with the American Cancer Society however we do support their efforts to fight cancer.)

What type of items are we looking for?

  • Hats - all sizes
  • Scarves
  • Blankets
  • Be creative, we accept any type of gift item to give to a person fighting cancer. For example, a crochet pink ribbon pin to support breast cancer awareness.
  • Yarn, Yarn, Yarn!!!

Please remember...

These items are being given freely to people taking treatment for cancer. We ask that you abide by the following when donating your items:
  • Must be new - never worn
  • Clean - free of perfume, pet hair and smoke

  1. There are a couple of cancer hospitals near or in the Phoenix/Glendale AZ area can I just crochet up a batch and take them there. Also Phoenix Children's Hospital has a unit/floor for kids with Cancer or do they have to go to you first?

    1. You are welcome to donate your hats to any location where you see a need and that will accept them. Feel free to use our scripture tags if you like.
